Hi there!
I’m Ella, a Sydney-based artist with a passion for illustration, visual development, and 2D animation.
I love bringing a sense of fun, imagination, and childhood wonder to my work, creating colourful, whimsical characters and worlds that I hope will bring a smile to viewers of all ages. I enjoy experimenting with various mediums and love creating a hybrid traditional-digital feel to my work.
Since graduating in 2021 with an Honours/Bachelor's degree in Design in Animation from UTS, I've delved into the world of children's book illustration. Currently, I'm a children's book illustrator at Shawline Publishing/Playtime Books, having contributed to five published books and counting.
I’ve also had the pleasure of collaborating with various companies and artists through my freelance work. I have worked on illustrations for Storytime magazine, as well as character designs and artwork for the songs and music videos of The Vegetable Plot, an ARIA-nominated Australian Children's band.
I am currently also an illustration and animation research assistant at UTS, where I create illustrations, 2D animations, design characters/concepts, and conduct visual research for various professional projects.
I've gained industry experience as a 2D animator during my internship at Mighty Nice Sydney and my animation work has been showcased at events like the Sydney Fringe Festival, Vivid, and The Microflix Film Festival.
When I’m not freelancing, you can find me showcasing and selling my art at markets and conventions. I also love to teach kids stop motion and 2D animation programs during the school holidays, fostering their creativity and learning.
